When is an additional SPD needed with the 3-Phase Hybrid?

Applicable to SH15-20-25T series

Updated over a week ago

The 3-phase Hybrid SHT offers surge protection device (SPD) Type II on DC and AC side already integrated in the inverter. SPD is one of the necessary protective devices in the installation to reduce damage caused by overvoltage.

However, if the customer wishes to meet VDE 0100-712 when the distance between the PV panels and the inverter is longer than 10 meters of cable, it is recommended to install a DC SPD Type I between the strings and the inverter DC side.
