SHT Parallel connection of multi hybrid inverters

Applicable to SH15-20-25T series

Updated over a week ago

1. How to set the parallel mode of SH15-20-25T three-phase hybrid inverters

Connect the system power line and communication line as shown in the following figure. In addition, please pay attention to the following matters:

Fig.1.

Note: A maximum of 2 hybrid inverters of the same type can be connected in parallel in the PV ESS via the RS485 communication.

For the Master-Slave communication:

The following schematic inn Fig.2. shows how to connect the communication cables between the energy meter and the master and slave inverter chain.

Fig.2.

COM1: to avoid redoing communication installation in future, it is recommended to connect all ports to each other initially

  • Connect A1B1 RS485 from Master to A1B1 RS485 Slave

  • Connect the H and L CAN from Master to H and L CAN Slave

  • Connect SW-1 SW-2 From Master to SW-1 SW-2 Slave

COM2:

  • Connect the A2B2 for the smart meter from the master inverter

  • Use the High and Low battery pins or the RJ45 connector to connect the battery to each inverter.

Setting Master-Slave operation mode in iSolarCloud website:

  1. After logging with your account, select on the left bar "Settings", and then inside this tab, select the plant and click on "Advanced Settings". Note that the Initial Grid should have been Already set.

2. Inside Advanced settings

The following is an example of how the parameters must be set in a system with a maximum of 2 hybrid inverters at a PV power of 50 kWp and a 70% feed-in limitation:

Fig.4.

Fig.5.

  • If the master inverter fails or the RS 485 communication is faulty, the following procedure is recommended:

    • All inverters will alert.

    • Deactivate the parameter Parallel connection of several gensets in all inverters. If dynamic feed-in limitation is activated, it should also be deactivated in the parameters, since the smart meter (counter) is now no longer connected to the slave inverters.

  • If one of the slave inverters fails or the RS 485 communication is faulty, the following procedure is recommended:

    • The master inverter and the affected slave inverter will alert.

    • Deactivate the parameter Parallel connection of several gensets in all inverters. If a dynamic feed-in limitation is activated, this should also be deactivated in the parameters, as the smart meter (counter) is now no longer connected to the slave inverters.

For further information, please download the user manual here.

This manual is intended for professional technicians who are responsible for installation, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of inverters, and users who need to check inverter parameters. The inverter must only be installed by professional technicians.

The professional technician is required to meet the following requirements:

  • Know electronic, electrical wiring and mechanical expertise, and be familiar with electrical and mechanical schematics.

  • Have received professional training related to the installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.

  • Be able to quickly respond to hazards or emergencies that occur during installation, commissioning and troubleshooting.

  • Be familiar with local standards and relevant safety regulations of electrical systems.

  • Read this manual thoroughly and understand the safety instructions related to operations.
