Sungrow SHxxT – Parallel SBH Battery Towers

Updated today

Do you want to optimize use of your PV power plant and temporarily store surplus electricity? Find out how your installer can set up two Sungrow battery towers on the Sungrow SHxxT.

Note: Please ensure the availability and compatibility of Y-connector in your region of installation.

This whitepaper deals with the Sungrow SHxxT hybrid series and the SBH battery.

The Sungrow SH15/20/25T now supports up to two Sungrow SBH battery towers. It should be noted that the battery towers must be identical. This means that they must have

- the same rated capacity

- the same charge level

- the same age

- the same battery module type

For connecting two battery towers, the Y-connector from Jonhon must be used (see Fig. 1). This can be purchased from Sungrow retailers. It should be noted that this connection is not compatible with Stäubli MC4-EVO2.

The Y-connector accessories pack contains the Y-connector itself, as well as the male and female counterparts. Please take care when crimping the SBH battery cables. The pack also includes 6 mm² crimp contacts, which are not, however, intended for use with the SBH battery. Here, the 10 mm² crimp contacts must be used.

In addition, the pack also contains a printed quick installation guide. The information in the guide is outdated and does not apply to SBR batteries. Unfortunately, we cannot provide the most up-to-date information in printed form: Parallel connection of two SBR batteries is not possible.

Connection is according to the schematic shown in Fig. 3. The distance between the SBH battery tower and SHxxT must not exceed 10 m.

This manual is intended for qualified personnel trained to install and commission the inverter, as well as for the owners of the inverters who may interact with them. Always read the manual and all associated documents before handling or operating the inverter. The documents must be stored carefully and kept readily accessible at all times. Their contents may be regularly updated or revised as the result of product development. The information in this manual may be changed at any time without prior notice.
