Automatic SBR Balancing & Calibration Function

The Firmware version V24 (SBRBCU-S_22011.01.24) of Sungrow´s SBR-Battery provides an Automatic Balancing Function, which will automatically heal a mismatched Battery-SOC during battery operation. To activate this function the conditions described in the following must be met. The Automatic Balancing Function does not affect the daily battery operation. Please ensure that the iSolarCloud settings set do not interfere with the activation of the Automatic Balancing Function

How to activate the Automatic Balancing Function for SBR-Battery

  1. Steps to Enable Automatic Balancing Function

    1. Step 1: Upgrade the SBR Battery to it´s latest firmware. At least FW version V24.

    2. Step 2: Fully charge all the batteries to 100% SOC.

    3. Step 3: At all times, maintain the battery temperature between 10°C-35°C (verifiable via iSC).

    4. Step 4: Discharge all the batteries, until SOC is less than or equal to 15%. Keep this SOC for 1 hour. No charging is permitted during this time.

      After completing steps 1-4, the system will automatically enable Automatic Balancing Function.

  2. Running Time of Automatic Balancing Function

    2.1 The running time of Automatic Balancing Function is related to the SOC mismatch in the battery system. The Automatic Balancing Function can repair 1% SOC difference per day, and the maximum duration of this balancing function being active is 25 days.

    For example: when the Automatic Balancing Function is activated, the SOC of the module of lowest power is 10%, and the SOC of the module with the highest power is 20%, then the Automatic Balancing Function will be active for (20%-10%)/1%*1day =10 days.

    2.2 Note: The Automatic Balancing Function does not affect the work of the battery, the battery can be charged and discharged normally.

    2.3 Note: Some Battery Settings in iSolarCloud might interfere with the execution of the automatic balancing function. Please make sure that the emergency charge of the battery as well as the reserved SOC for back up are kept below 15%.

  3. Conditions for deactivating the Automatic Balancing Function

    The Automatic Balancing Function will be turned off if one of the following conditions is met

    3.1 The continuous running time of the Automatic Balancing Function exceeds 25 days (after turning off the Automatic Balancing Function for 1 day, the Automatic Balancing Function can be turned on again if the conditions are met);

    3.2 The System SOC difference is ≤ 3% (3% is the upper limit of SOC estimation accuracy, and Automatic Balancing Function is considered to be completed at this time)

    3.3 The estimated competition time of the Automatic Balancing Function is met - the Automatic Balancing Function is considered as completed.
